Sometime about 10,000 years ago, the earliest farmers put down their roots—literally and figuratively. The agricultural revolution opened the door to stable food supplies, and it let hunter-gatherers build permanent dwellings that eventually morphed into complex societies in many parts of the world.

In the future, however, with substantially improved transportation of food supplies, technology and global economy, humans will able to revisit our innate nomadic lifestyle and live and work remotely from any part of the world. We will able to live on the top of a mountain one day, and on an isolated island on another, having access to all the necessities people utilise in our cities. 

With intensifying globalisation, increasing mobility and ease of transportation, future generations will also question the concept of countries, borders and national identities. Once borders dissolve, global citizens will proactively decide where to live, study and work. Future mobile lifestyles will provide flexibility, freedom and a global outlook of worldwide issues.

Re-thinking and re-assessing residential mobility by exploiting new technological developments will allow future generations to become multi-local and enhance the notion of global responsibility. Mobile and self-sufficient developments such as Hover homes will be able to accommodate people willing to possess nomadic lifestyles working or studying remotely from anywhere on the planet. 

Using magnetic levitation termed ‘Maglev', Hover homes are suspended in the air by applying a magnetic force to counteract the effects of gravitational acceleration. Cabins are constructed from lightweight metal insulated with aerogel, which makes them very light and has low thermal conductivity. 

In cities, Hover homes can be accommodated within existing structures or within specially designed home parks. Some home parks can be found in isolated areas incorporated within the landscape. 

Earth will become one big home.
